Congratulations to DRRAR’s first REALTOR® Emeritus, Hampton Wilkins of Wilkins & Co. REALTORS®!
The REALTOR® Emeritus status is a prestigious recognition awarded by the National Association of REALTORS® to a REALTOR® Member who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, or both, for a cumulative period of forty (40) years. In addition to the tenure requirement, applicants must also complete at least one year of volunteer service on either the local, state, or national levels. Applications for REALTOR® Emeritus status are reviewed and decided upon every year during the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Expo in the spring and REALTORS® Conference & Expo in the fall.
Hampton has been a REALTOR® in the Danville area since 1978 and has served on multiple local and state association committees. He has also served on DRRAR’s Board of Directors as a Director, Executive, and eventually President. Congratulations and thank you for your service and contributions to the real estate profession as a REALTOR®, Hampton!
NAR hosts a Leadership Summit every year in Chicago to prepare the upcoming year’s President of local and state associations to lead. This conference also sets aside time for them to plan the year ahead with their Association Executive. In addition to conference activities, attendees are also encouraged to take the opportunity to explore all that Chicago has to offer. This year’s event was August 5th-7th.
This year, DRRAR was represented by 2018 President-Elect, Diron Clements, and Association Executive, Erica Sturkie. During their time in Chicago, they enjoyed the conference, went to a Chicago Cubs game, and attended a dinner hosted by Virginia REALTORS® where all attendees (AEs and President-Elects) from Virginia enjoyed dinner together.
Diron will be the 2019 DRRAR President; his induction will take place at our yearly awards banquet in January.
Did you know that Supra’s restoration facility shares space with its original manufacturing floor? The photo to your right is the floor of their facility where original manufacturing and restoration of defective materials happens. This photo was taken just a few weeks ago because for the first time, DRRAR attended the Supra Customer Forum in Salem and Portland, Oregon. The forum took place July 28th-30th and was attended by Association Executive, Erica Sturkie, and Lockbox Committee Chair, Anne Pritchett.
Supra holds three forums a year as a way to say “thank you” to its wide customer base. Activities at this forum included an excursion on Sunday to Archery Summit winery and lunch in Dayton, Oregon, and finally a tour of Supra’s facilities in Salem, Oregon, on Monday. In spare time, Erica and Anne also visited the Portland Japanese Garden (pictured at the top). Erica and Anne were just two of about 30 people that attended from various associations/MLSs across the United States. Most attendees were already Supra customers, but a few were potential future Supra customers that currently use other ekey and lockbox solutions.
DRRAR has been a customer of Supra for at least a decade and we currently use their services for our ekeys and lockboxes. Have you ever returned a defective keybox to our office? When you do, we ship those back to Supra and they restore them to good-as-new condition! See how it’s done in the video here: https://youtu.be/X6WEWVkcbfY

In lieu of a typical enrichment meeting lunch in May, the Affiliate Committee decided to host a “Meet Your Affiliates” Business After-Hours event on May 24th at the Danville Golf Club. This event also took the place of our traditional after-golf tournament networking event by providing a separate fun and relaxed environment for our members and affiliates to get to know one another.
Our affiliate and REALTOR® members alike were treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. Music was provided by Steven Collins of Soundwave Entertainment as guests enjoyed playing board games, yard games, and talking with one another.
Thank you to all who attended and helped make this event successful! If you were able to attend, please remember to fill out our survey we emailed you by June 8th! We want to hear your comments and suggestions about how to make this event even better next time!
